2020 Scout Season Kick Off!

While it has been a very abnormal year we are preparing to start our 2020 cub scout year strong with a recruitment event in September and Camp out the first weekend in October. Please join us on our facebook page or take a look at the sidebar for the published calendar.

We are asking friends and family to invite others to join our pack. The more participants we have the more fun we can create. We openly invite all community members to come and try out a meeting with no obligations.

We are changing up the schedule a little bit this year to shorten the meetings to 30 minutes but will do them every week to keep the scouts connected. We will be holding as many meetings outdoors as possible so stay tuned for more details.

In addition to kicking off our scout season Popcorn Selling is now officially underway. If you require forms for selling please email us or come to our first meeting to pick up. Given the recent quarantine we are a little behind on our fundraising since we were unable to host he Memorial day sale. We will be following up with a few signups for show and sell time slots if door to door selling is not possible.

2020 Pinewood Derby

Race Day is March 8th at 1:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville PA

Concessions will be served and the event is open to the public!

Be Sure to Follow these Rules!

  1. Car Specifications: Width: – 2-3/4″; Length – 7″; Weight – Not over 5 Ounces; Width between wheels – 1-3/4″
  2. The car must have been made during the current year (year in which derby is being held) – Cannot use previous years cars – Pinewood Derby Car kits supplied by the pack
  3. Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
  4. The car shall not ride on springs.
  5. Only official Cub Scout Grand Prix Pinewood Derby wheels and axles are permitted.
  6. Only dry lubricant is permitted.
  7. Details, such as steering wheel and driver are permissible as long as these details do not exceed the maximum length, width and weight specifications.
  8. The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
  9. Each car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it may compete.
  10. If, at registration., a car does not pass inspection, the owner will be informed of the reason for failure, and will be given time within the official weigh-in time period to make the adjustment.
  11. After final approval, cars will not be re-inspected unless the car is damaged in handling or in a race.

Popcorn!

Pickup for popcorn will be on Saturday November 16th starting at 9:30am at Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville. This is right before we all set out to collect donations for scouting for food. We will also have popcorn available for pickup during the normal Pack Meeting on November 19th. If you need to make additional arrangements please email or text.

2019-20 Scout Season Kickoff

We hope everyone has had a great summer. Pack 37 is getting ready for another great scouting season starting with a Committee Planning meeting on August 25th at 6:30pm Saturday to prepare for the Annual Recruitment event being held Saturday September 7th at the fire hall.

Our first meeting for Returning Scouts will be held on Tuesday September 3rd at 6:30pm. The location is TBD but if the weather is nice we will likely meet at Amos Herr Park and have activities to get an early jump on physical fitness requirements.

If you are a returning scout you should also have received your popcorn selling packets. You can start selling door to door immediately and there will be a communication coming out in September with a signup for Show n’ Sell dates times and locations.

2019 Gettin’ Chummy with the Mummy

Our next big Pack event will be held at the Penn Museum in Philadelphia. This is an overnight adventure with a lot of planned activities. Please use the signup like below to confirm your attendance.

    • We will leave directly from school around 3:30pm
    • Park has been confirmed for the lot near the Lacross fields
    • Parent Permission slips will be required
    • Bus transportation is being provided by the Pack
  • Saturday January 12th 9am depart Philadelphia est arrival home 11am

Cost is $55 per person and due before the end of December

Registration is limited to One Scout and One Adult and will be opened up to siblings and additional adults after all families have had a chance to sign up.

Poptober Fest!

It is that time of year again and we are launching our popcorn selling season for Pack 37. This year we are working on raising enough funds to support a trip to the Penn Museum in Philadelphia for an overnight trip. (40 winks at the sphinx)

  • September 8th and 9th from 10am-2pm
    • Saturday/Sunday@ Tractor Supply

 

  • September 15th and 16th from 10am-2pm
    • Saturday/Sunday @ Darrenkamps – Mt. Joy

 

  • October 6th and 7th from 9am-12pm
    • Saturday/Sunday  @ Lowes 

 

  • November 9th to 18th – Popcorn Pickup for Deliveries
    • Delivery to Customers can occur after the initial date
    • Deliver to scouts at the pack meeting or before

2018 Discover Scouting Event

Come join us Camp Chiques in Landisville on August 26 and discover what Scouting is all about. No registration is necessary. If you are interested in joining Pack 37 we will have a brief parent session during the event to answer questions.

When: Sunday August 26 from 5 to 7pm

Where: Camp Chiques 4000 Old Harrisburg Pike

What: Way finding lesson, gaga ball, and a Campfire with Hot dogs!

We will have both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts on site to share their experiences with scouting.

Pack 37 has been with Landisville for over 55 years and we are an all inclusive organization helping young boys and girls develop self confidence and life skills. We meet twice a month throughout the school year, once as a pack and again in smaller groups called Den’s that are age specific.

Our big event this year is an overnight camping trip to Downtown Philadelphia to spend the night at the Penn Museum and sleep under the Sphinx!
